  Intel & AMD has its advantages and dis-advantages. Which chip you choosed depends on what do you want to use it for.
  If you plan to use it for office use and some graphics/photoshop then go with Intel dual core or a single core with hyperthreading.
  If you buy it to play games, then go with AMD. But don't choose a cheap AMD chip. AMD tends to overclock their chips, making them run faster and much hotter. If you are not careful, the chip can overheat and die.
