  • C=C-C-C-C-C, C-C=C-C-C-C, C-C-C=C-C-C and 1 cyclohexane.... there is probably more, i don't know.

  • I don't even understand how you can get the isomers from just looking at the formula!!! And I have a chem exam in 4 days!! Cryin

actually those are different compounds lol, ím looking for alkanes, not cyclo- or alkenes/alkynes

    thanks to last poster btw

The thing is your C6H12 is not an alkane. It's Hexene, not Hexane like you posted. Confused ???

  • yeah sorry, meant C6H14

  • Uhm C6H14 has these isomers:

    1. Hexane

    CH3-(CH2)4-CH3

    2. 2-methylpentane

    CH3-CH-CH2-CH2-CH3
    .........|.......................
    .......CH3....................

    3. 3-methylpentane

    CH3-CH2-CH-CH2-CH3
    ................|................
    ...............CH3............

    4. 2,3-dimethylbutane

    CH3-CH-CH-CH3.........
    ........|.....|..................
    ......CH3..CH3.............

    5. 2,2-dimethylbutane

    ......CH3.....................
    ........|........................
    CH3-C-CH2-CH3.........
    ........|........................
    ......CH3.....................

  • me too i agreed with babyson82. here is a formular you can use to figure out the number of H if you know C, or inverse.
    alkanes: C(n)H(2n+2)
    Alkenes: C(n)H(2n)
    Alkynes: C(n)H(2n-2)

n-stands for number of Carbon, so just have to rember met, et, prop, but, hex, okt, non, dek, undek,đoek, tridek, tetradek.. (in norwegian we count them like this, not so sure they do it in english too)
